Create and edit user-defined fields

When the UDF feature is activated, you can create up to 35 user-defined fields associated with selected organizations. You can then use these fields to define custom attributes for employee profiles.

The fields that you define are displayed in the order in which you create them on the User Defined Fields page in User Management Module that an administrator uses to create a profile for each employee in their organization., My Profile, and Forecasting and Scheduling.

You can edit the name and description of a user-defined field; however, you cannot change the type for the field once it has been defined.

Procedure

  1. Go to Organization Management Module in WFO that allows administrators to set up different hierarchies to manage users from a single, unified, Web interface.. Under Employee Attributes, select User Defined Fields.

  2. Select the parent organization for the new user-defined field.

  3. Select Create.

To edit a field, select the field and then select Edit.

  4. On the User Defined Field Definition page, enter or update the Name and the Description for the field.

Names for user-defined fields are unique in the system (not just per organization). You cannot create a user-defined field with a name that exists in the system, even if you do not have privileges to see an organization that contains that field. An error message displays if you try to duplicate the name of a user-defined field.

  5. For a new field, from the Type drop-down list box, select the format for the field. Options are:

    • Text: When available in User Management, the field allows text with appropriate validation.

    • Numeric: When available in User Management, the field allows text with appropriate validation.

    • Drop-down list: When available in User Management, the field includes a list of values. To add the values, in the Distinct Drop Down Values area, select Add.

    • Date: When available in User Management, the field includes a date picker.

  6. Click Save.
